Lunch Count April 6-9 (NO Service Friday April 10 or Monday April 13)

Anyone ages 0-18 can participate in the Grab and Go meals from 11:30 am – 12:15 pm in the elementary and middle school lobbies.  Please keep in mind suppliers are struggling to provide some items, and we are only able to provide what is shipped. Breakfast items for the next day will be available for pickup with lunches.

If your child is NOT a DPRS student, but will be home alone, I will deliver them a meal.  Although our intention was to only deliver to DRPS students, I don’t want any child hungry during this time. Please let your child know to look for Deputy Mike Walker, Jeff Schmidt, or myself.

To assist with planning, please take a survey to provide a head count for meals.  The survey should be taken for each child in your family.  If you utilize both delivery and pick-up, please take the survey twice for your child and select the appropriate days for each option.

One, reimbursable lunch will be provided.  Additional items not donated will need to be charged to a student’s lunch account.

COVID-19 Readiness

Coronavirus Disease

The Dell Rapids Public School wants parents to know that we are aware of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) threat and we have initiated a plan.  Although information suggests a low immediate health risk, an obligation exists to ensure DRPS is prepared to both prevent and mitigate the virus. Regardless of the specific virus, components of our plan will have multiple functions.  We know that general health practices are simply best practice for keeping students healthy, and the exploration of remote learning days, will also be considered for use during weather related emergencies (snow days).

Each building is working to distribute age-appropriate prevention information and our facilities will now be cleaned with a formula that has been proven to kill COVID-19.  We really want to stress the simplistic, yet important advice from the Department of Health.

  • Students should stay home when they are sick
  • Cover your cough
  • Practice good hand washing

To prepare for the possibility of E-Learning days, I’m asking all families participate in a brief internet access survey.

Finally, I’ve included documents that are worth taking a look at.  There is an abundance of COVID-19 information available, however I trust the CDC’s research and believe it provides us the most up-to-date information.
