School Board
The Dell Rapids School Board is comprised of five members elected each year for overlapping terms. Each member serves a term for three years. As the governing body of the Dell Rapids School System, the primary role of the board is the legislation of school system policies that are executed by the superintendent and staff!
The school board meets on the second Monday of every month. They also meet on the fourth Monday from September through November and January through June. All meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Middle School/High School Distance Learning Room. Agendas are available in the central office on the afternoon of the Friday before the scheduled meeting and online.
If there is an agenda item of interest to you or if you wish to address an item not on the agenda, call the superintendent at 428-5473 by the Friday before the meeting. Speaking time may be limited to three minutes.

Brian has served on the school board since 2003, and has lived in the district since 1972. His wife Nancy and their children have lived in the district their entire lives. Brianna - 12th grade, Preston - class of 2009, Sheldon - class of 2003, Michael - class of 2000, and Jamie - class of 1997. Brian is a researcher at the USGS/EROS Center. He serves on the Technology Planning Committee.
Cindy started on the Board in July of 2007. Cindy and her husband David have lived in the district since 1993 with their children Jeffery - a 4th grader, Danielle - class of 2010, and Alicia - class of 2008. Cindy works for Sanford/USD Medical Center. She serves on the Wellness/Insurance Committee.
Troy was appointed to the school board in 2008. Troy and his wife Robin have lived in the district since 2002 with their children Noah - a 4th grader, and Luke - 2nd grader. Troy is a farmer. He serves on the Transportation Committee.
Matt began his first term July 2010 and has grown up in Dell Rapids. Matt and his wife Sonya have three children in school: Bergen - a 5th grader, Andrew - a 3rd grader, and Lane - a Kindergartner. Matt is a dairy farmer. Matt serves on the Transportation Committee and is a delegate to the Prairie Lakes Educational Cooperative.
Tom was elected to the board in 2011 and has lived in the district. Tom and his Wife, Lori, have three children: Jacob - an 11th grader; Lindsey - an 8th grader; and Tyler - class of 2010. Tom works for Regency Hotel Management and serves on the Facilities Committee.
